New Zealand call up for IEC62236-3-2 for electrical and electronic apparatus intended for use on railway rolling stock. For many years we have been testing and complying to BS EN50121-3-2 Railway applications. Electromagnetic compatibility. Rolling stock. Apparatus. Now reading both standards they appear to be the same/similar.
For Emissions IEC62236-3-2 call us up for table 1 of IEC61000-6-4, BS EN50121-3-2 calls up for BS EN61000-6-4 table 1 for emissions. Both are the same the only difference is the prefix IEC and BS EN.
The same also seems to apply for Chinese GB EMC Standards. Here are two standards from China compared with IEC/EN Standards, well just the titles :
GB 17799.3-2012 (Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). Generic standards. Emission standard for residential, commercial and light-industrial environments) in English language + (original Chinesse language). –
BS EN 61000-6-3:2007+A1:2011 Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). Generic standards. Emission standard for residential, commercial and light-industrial environments
IEC 61000-6-3-ed.2.1 – Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) – Part 6-3: Generic standards – Emission standard for residential, commercial and light-industrial environments.
And then..
GB 17799.4-2012 Electromagnetic compatibilityEMC- Part 6-4Generic standards – Emission standard for industrial environments
BS EN 61000-6-4:2007+A1:2011 Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). Generic standards. Emission standard for industrial environments
| IEC61000-6-4 Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) – Part 6-4: Generic standards – Emission standard for industrial environments |
With the above two titles you will see different standard numbers but the same title.
In the next couple of weeks I intend to get access to the Chinese standards and compare. I have already compared IEC62236-3-2 andBS EN50121-3-2 and these are same/similar.
Wonder how many other standards out there are like this?
